Kathmandu, May 28: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has said arrangements are in place for supplying foodstuff from the local level if anyone else in the Kathmandu Valley needs to buy foodstuff during the extended period of prohibitory order beginning from today.
The anti-COVID-19 prohibitory period which has been in place for a month has been extended by a week in the Valley and even groceries, food outlets and departmental stores have been closed for a week.
In a statement today, the district administration said Food Management and Trade Company Limited and Salt Trading Corporation’s mobile vehicles will, in coordination with local levels, carry food to the local level for the emergency supply.
The office has also provided the names and contact numbers of the people responsible for facilitating this regard.
As Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli said, the prohibitory order has been further tightened to make the COVID-19 control efforts more effective. It is said the office received public complaints of crowds in outlets supplying food, groceries and departmental stores and no compliance with the social distancing rule contributed to the further spread of the infection which as it said prompted it to take stricter measures.
