May 31, Solukhumbu: The Solukhumbu chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is set to institute an ‘emergency relief fund’. A meeting of the chapter on Sunday took the decision to set up the fund, shared its chair, Nutan Shrestha.
According to him, the meeting also endorsed a work procedure to operate the relief fund. The work procedure is said to cover general members of the FNJ chapter.
It has also made an arrangement to provide support to its member(s) when medical treatment is required in case of accidental injury while performing their jobs as part of any media house.
Shrestha further informed that the fund can be mobilized to support journalists in case of mutilation or having complicated disease, accidental death, illness of their family members and any incident of fire and natural calamities.
He also informed that the FNJ chapter will deposit Rs 111,111 to the fund from its bank account and other options will also be explored to enlarge the fund.
